Introduction to Feedback
Introduction
Feedback in PerformYard is a powerful tool for fostering open communication and recognition across your organization. Whether you're giving feedback to a colleague, requesting input from others, or reviewing what's been shared with you, the platform provides a flexible and intuitive experience for every step of the process. This article walks you through the three core aspects of feedback in PerformYard: giving feedback, requesting feedback, and viewing feedback.
Video Overview:
Giving Feedback
When giving feedback, you start by selecting who the feedback is about, either a single person or multiple people, and then choose how it will be shared. Sharing options range from company-wide recognition visible to all users, to feedback shared directly with the subject or only their manager, to private notes kept just for yourself. You can also include hashtags in your feedback to help categorize it across the platform, and your organization may suggest specific hashtags for your use. Once submitted, feedback appears in the relevant dashboard activity streams and daily notification emails for both subjects and their managers, keeping everyone informed based on the sharing settings you selected.

Requesting Feedback
PerformYard also allows employees to proactively request feedback from their colleagues, if this feature has been enabled for your organization. To send a request, you select one or more individuals you'd like to hear from and can include an optional message to provide context. Requests remain active for two weeks, and recipients can choose to respond, dismiss, or simply let the request expire, they are never obligated to provide feedback. When responding to a request, the standard feedback slideout will appear pre-populated with the requester's details, and you can choose the appropriate audience for sharing your response. You can manage your outgoing requests and track their status in the Feedback section, and incoming requests will appear directly on your dashboard for easy access.

Viewing Feedback
To view your feedback, navigate to the Feedback link in the My Info menu, where you'll find several lists depending on your role and your organization's settings. These include feedback you've received, feedback you've given, notes you've taken, and, for managers, feedback about your direct reports. Each list can be filtered by author, subject, date range, or hashtag, and sorted chronologically to help you quickly find what you're looking for. Selecting any individual feedback entry displays its full details, including the subject, author, audience, and date, and feedback you've authored can be edited or deleted directly from the list. You can also export your feedback to a CSV file, with any active filters carrying over to the export.
