Using PerformYard's MCP Server as an Admin
Introduction
With PerformYard's MCP server connected to an AI tool such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Microsoft Copilot, administrators can ask questions about company-wide PerformYard data in plain English. There are no reports to build and no data to copy and paste into an AI tool. The assistant pulls the data from PerformYard and writes up the answer.
The assistant sees only what your PerformYard administrator role allows, and it never returns private or in-progress content. This article covers four ways administrators use MCP. To get started, see Connecting PerformYard to Claude, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Copilot.
Disclaimer: This feature uses artificial intelligence to generate its content. While it aims to provide accurate insights, it may not always capture the full nuance or context behind your data. Please review the generated summaries before relying on them for interpretation or decision-making. AI-generated outputs are intended to support, not replace, human judgment and should not be the sole basis for any employment decision, such as hiring, promotion, compensation, or termination.
Review Analysis
Pull completed review results by review cycle and compare answers to specific questions across the company. The assistant can retrieve any number of your past review cycles, forms and questions, then read the answers from completed reviews you have permission to view. This is useful for spotting themes, comparing departments, and preparing calibration discussions.
- "What themes came up in the 2026 Mid-Year Review cycle?"
- "What themes came up in the self evals of my review cycles from 2024, 2025, and 2026?
- "Compare answers to the question about career growth across groups in our last completed cycle."
- "What did managers say most often about team communication in the last cycle?"
- "Help me prepare for calibration conversations for my recent review cycle"
Only completed or closed reviews are returned. In-progress reviews are never returned, and anonymous reviewers stay anonymous.
Survey Readouts
Summarize survey questions and responses without exporting anything. The assistant can list your company's surveys and their questions, then summarize the responses it has access to.
- "Summarize the responses to our latest survey."
- "Which survey questions had the lowest scores, and what did people say?"
- "What are the top three themes in the open-text comments from our last survey?"
Saved Reports
Open the analytics reports you've already saved in PerformYard and have the assistant read the results in plain language, including pointing out outliers and trends. The assistant runs reports that already exist and that you have access to. To use a custom report this way, build and save it in PerformYard first.
- "Run my 'Goal completion by department' report and point out the outliers."
- "Open my saved turnover report and summarize what changed from last quarter."
Company Goal Tracking
Check how goals are progressing across your entire organization, groups, and more. The assistant can look up your company's goal categories and employee groups, then report on progress for the goals you have access to.
- "How are Q4 goals progressing in the Sales department compared to Customer Success?"
- "Which locations have the most goals behind schedule?"
- "Which departments have the most goals with no progress logged?"
Tips and Things to Keep in Mind
- Be specific. Name the review cycle, survey, report, department or time period you care about.
- Results reflect your permissions. If your administrator role can't see a goal, review or report in PerformYard, neither can the assistant.
- Confidential content stays protected. Private feedback notes, anonymous reviewer identities, in-progress reviews, meeting notes and transcripts are never returned.
- Review before you share. AI summaries can miss context. Check the assistant's work before using it in decisions or sending it to others.
- Combine tools. If other apps such as a docs tool or a project tool are connected in the same AI tool, you can pair PerformYard data with them in one conversation.
- Need to pause access? Turning off Company Settings → AI → MCP ends every connection in your company immediately.
