Session Settings

Introduction

In PerformYard, session settings give administrators control over how long users can remain inactive before requiring re-authentication, helping enforce security policies while maintaining productivity. Administrators can configure both the timeout duration and whether users should be automatically redirected for enhanced privacy protection.

Session Timeout

The Session Timeout setting determines how long a user can remain inactive before their session expires and they need to sign in again. Administrators can choose from several predefined options: 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, or 24 hours. When a session expires due to inactivity, users will not lose any of their current work progress, they'll simply need to re-authenticate to continue where they left off. This setting, by default, is set to 12 hours.

Session Timeout Redirect

The Session Timeout Redirect setting provides an additional layer of privacy protection for security-conscious organizations. When enabled, this feature automatically redirects users to the login page 5 minutes after their session has expired due to inactivity. Please note, unlike the standard session timeout behavior, users will lose any unsaved work progress once they are redirected to the login page. This setting, by default, is set to off.
