Meeting Notes

Introduction

Taking notes in a meeting is crucial for capturing key points, decisions, and action items, ensuring nothing is overlooked. PerformYard Meetings allow you to take both shared and private notes. Shared notes, can be seen by the other participant and help keep everyone aligned and on the same page regarding discussions and outcomes. Private notes, on the other hand, allow each participant the space to independently process the discussion. In standard 1:1s, private notes help managers track feedback, and important takeaways to follow up on, as well as reflect on the employee’s growth. For the direct report, it provides a chance to note areas for improvement, feedback received, and personal goals to focus on.

With PerformYard Meetings, notes are collaborative meaning both meeting participants can add their own shared or private notes before, during, or after the meeting.

Your Shared Notes

Each meeting participant can take their own notes, which will be visible to the other participant. In PerformYard, we refer to these as shared notes. To add shared notes before, during, or after a meeting, simply start typing in the designated text box, and your notes will be saved automatically as you go. When your shared notes are saving you'll see  Saving and then Saved above the top right corner of your shared notes text area.

Your Participants Shared Notes

The other meeting participant also has the ability to take notes that you can also see, which can be accessed anytime before, during, or after the meeting. To view their shared notes, click the dropdown that says My Shared Notes.

Next, select the other option in the dropdown, labeled [Name]’s Shared Notes. This will allow you to view the most up-to-date notes from your participant.

Please note, these notes do not update in real-time. To view any updates, simply switch the dropdown from your participant's notes back to yours, and then back again to their notes.

Your Private Notes

Along with shared notes, meeting participants also have the ability to take notes that only they can see. In PerformYard, we refer to these as private notes. To add private notes, simply click + Add Private Notes. This will give you a separate text area to jot down anything you would like to keep to yourself.

To add private notes before, during, or after a meeting, simply start typing in the designated text box, and your notes will be saved automatically as you go. When your private notes are saving you'll see Saving and then Saved above the top right corner of your private notes text area.

You can also hide your private notes by clicking - Hide Private Notes. This will simply remove them from view without deleting them.
